This is the time of year in Wisconsin to go get some juicy and delicious strawberries to eat! Actually going to a strawberry farm and picking the berries yourself is a great way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon. If you live near Madison there are a couple of local farms that do not spray their berries and make them available to the public to pick. I went to JenEhr farm in Sun Prairie last Sunday but Carandale is also a good choice in Oregon. One way to actually make cleaning strawberries a breeze is using a strawberry huller. This simple gadget can save you time while cleaning your fresh local berries.
I wish I would have had it last weekend when I was cleaning berries. One of my new clients works and a store that sells these and she said it was one of her favorite kitchen gadgets for the summer. Our friends at Orange Tree Imports carry a huller by Endurance (shown above) for $2.99. Remember if you are cleaning berries with a friend you will need 2!!!
