Like many middle-aged men, I have struggled with my weight, fitness, and overall health the majority of my adult life. My weight, in particular, has seen massive swings over the past couple of decades.
The cycle typically goes like this: I live in denial as my clothes get tighter, my fitness plummets, and my sleep suffers. I start hating myself and feel defeated. I then get to the breaking point and go to extreme measures to try and lose the weight. No meat diets, low fat, no carbs, extreme intake limitations…whatever it would take to get the clothes fitting again. And then the cycle repeats itself.
Over the last several years, I have tried my best to take a more holistic approach. Diet and exercise is what we all know is best, so I gave it my best shot. I’d lose the weight and even get into decent physical shape, but it was never sustainable.
These past couple of years I have continued to try and get on the right path and it has seemed to only get harder. I purchased home workout programs, gym memberships, etc. I always had good starts, but was never be able to sustain the activity and would often injure myself. As I have gotten older, I’ve started having significant issues with pain and inflammation. It got down right frustrating that I couldn’t “get out of my own way!”
Earlier this year, I started back at my local CrossFit gym. Ready to give it another try and praying that I could do it injury free, I happened to see a promotional flyer for one of Tracie’s free introductory classes. Determined to try anything to get my health under control, I decided to sign up and attend.
What I heard in that intro class was a total shift from what I thought I knew about food, but it made sense. I decided to take the plunge and enrolled in Tracie’s 8-week program. The information has proved invaluable!! I no longer have inflammation issues, I sleep like a baby, and I finally feel like I have control over my health and well-being. Choosing the right foods keeps me fueled for workouts, satisfied without cravings, and helped me drop the unwanted weight in a sustained, healthy manner.
Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about the work Tracie is doing. The information is sound, the results are indisputable, and I am very grateful that our paths crossed. It has truly changed my life!
