I learned about Tracie last summer through a recommendation from my trainer. I was exercising consistently and eating well (so I thought) but I wasn’t seeing the results I was hoping for. I wanted to lose a few pounds, tighten up and have more energy.
I attended her Nutrition 101 class and was simultaneously thrilled and scared about what I learned. Her approach to eating made sense. Sure, we should eat more naturally and that made sense to me. But putting it into action meant a significant change in not just my diet but my way of thinking. I left the class feeling both invigorated and shell-shocked. It took a few days to let everything sink in but then I was ready to give it a try. I talked some of my girlfriends into joining me for Tracie’s 8-week class “Change Your Plate, Change Your Life.” As moms, we were all in the position of wanting to lose a little weight but most importantly, gain energy and control over our health.
I started following Tracie’s 2-week gluten free eating plan as a way to determine if I had gluten issues. After eliminating gluten and adding coconut oil to my diet, I began to notice subtle changes. I had more energy, I lost my “muffin top”, and the cellulite on my thighs lessened…so much so that I was able to wear shorts last summer which I had not done in 4 years.
I decided to introduce Tracie’s nutrition plan into my family’s eating. However, I had to do this without them knowing so that I wouldn’t have to listen to complaints! I started adding gelatin in order to balance my children’s meals and to avoid blood sugar fluctuations that lead to tantrums. I also substituted our cooking oils with coconut oil. My husband suffers from various types of inflammation (basically anything that ends in “-itis”). After several months on this new way of eating (unbeknownst to him), he mentioned that he was feeling different. He wasn’t experiencing the daily pain that he had been experiencing and felt better than he had in 5 years. I was thrilled! I finally fessed up and told him about the gelatin and coconut oil and he couldn’t believe such a minor change in nutrition could change his life so dramatically. And as for my children, when I keep them balanced (which is difficult, I’ll grant you), the tantrums and drama are significantly less.
I still have a long way to go with Tracie’s nutrition plan. I have a lot to learn about balancing but I am convinced this is the way to go with myself, my children and husband. I would encourage anyone who is not feeling 100% to try changing your plate for 2-weeks. It’s only 2 weeks, it won’t hurt and it could change your life.
